Candle is a cabin designed by Ortraum Architects, located in Saimaa, Finland. The cabin features a glazed gable roof, offering stunning views of the lake. Candle is constructed from cross-laminated timber (CLT), and its exterior is clad in larch boards. Inside, the CLT is left exposed, and fixed furniture, such as the bed positioned next to the glazed gable, is made from the same material. Both ends of the cabin have eaves that form a sheltered and elevated platform for sitting or storing shoes outside. This structure also protects the woodpile underneath the cabin.
Otherwise made the cabin’s lighting design and automation. The lighting concept was intended to resemble a candle, shining with a warm light by the lakeside.
The project used Otherwise’s tunable white LED lights.
