Wireless switches

The modern design of our wireless switches combines easy installation with flexible usage options. We offer three different installation methods to meet various needs and style preferences:

  1. Surface-mounted switches – A quick and effortless solution suitable for any surface. Stylish and modern in appearance, they require no significant structural changes.

  2. Flush-mounted switches – Seamlessly integrated into the wall, offering a minimalist and discreet look. This option is particularly suited to spaces where attention to detail is important, and a clean, unified surface is desired.

  3. Furniture-mounted switches – When you want the switch to blend into furniture or other design elements, this solution allows you to place the switches exactly where you need them most without impacting the room’s aesthetics.

High-quality design and innovative technology – the perfect combination

The development of our wireless switches has focused on user-friendliness and elegant appearance. They not only make your life easier but also elevate the look of your space. Combine technology and design – choose our wireless switches and add a touch of luxury to your interior.

Finishes and materials

The finishes for aluminum include anodizing or powder coating, ensuring the switch’s longevity and durability. Stainless steel offers versatility: it can be either brushed or polished, with color options such as natural, brass, copper, bronze, and gunmetal. The coating is applied using an environmentally friendly PVD-coating process, which not only enhances the appearance but also increases the material’s durability and protection.

Customized solutions to suit your needs

Otherwise designs and manufactures the switches, which means we can create fully customized solutions just for you. Whether it’s a specific color, shape, or functionality, we provide a switch that is entirely tailored to your needs and preferences.

Seamless integration with all materials

Our strength lies in our unique mounting system, which allows us to seamlessly integrate the switches into any material, such as drywall, concrete, CLT, paneling, and more. This flexibility ensures perfect compatibility with various structures and interior design solutions.

Involvement in the design phase

If you’re looking for something other than traditional surface-mounted models, it’s best to involve us in the Design phase. Each material requires a unique mounting system, and we have plenty of options available. If surface materials have already been finished, retrofitting flush-mounted models can be challenging. Being involved in the design phase ensures that we can integrate the switches perfectly into the final look of your space.

Frequently Asked Questions

Wireless switches — everything you need to know

Answers to the most common questions about Otherwise wireless switches — installation methods, finishes and materials, custom solutions, integration with different wall types, and why involving us in the design phase pays off.

  • 01What installation methods are available for Otherwise wireless switches?+

Three methods: surface-mounted, flush-mounted, and furniture-mounted — each chosen to match the space’s style, wall build-up, and how visible you want the switch to be.

Surface-mounted is the fastest solution and suits any surface without structural changes. Flush-mounted integrates seamlessly into the wall for a minimalist, near-invisible look — ideal for detail-focused interiors. Furniture-mounted lets us place the switch inside cabinetry, headboards, or kitchen islands, so it lives exactly where the user actually needs it without breaking the room’s aesthetics.

  • 02What finishes, materials and colours are available?+

Aluminum with anodizing or powder coating, and stainless steel finished either brushed or polished — with colour options including natural, brass, copper, bronze and gunmetal via PVD coating.

The PVD (Physical Vapour Deposition) coating process is environmentally friendly and produces a finish that is both visually rich and highly durable — the colour is bonded into the metal rather than sitting on top of it. This means the switch looks premium for the entire life of the interior, resisting wear, scratching, and everyday use in high-traffic locations.

  • 03Can I get a fully customized wireless switch?+

Yes. Otherwise both designs and manufactures the switches in-house, so we can build fully bespoke solutions — custom colour, custom shape, custom function.

Because we control the entire process from CAD to finished product, there is no “catalogue-only” limitation. Architects and designers routinely ask us for switches matched to a specific interior palette, cut to a non-standard shape, or programmed with a specific function (single-scene toggle, multi-scene rotator, dedicated exit-mode button). If you can describe it, we can usually make it.

  • 04Which wall or surface materials can wireless switches be integrated into?+

Our proprietary mounting system integrates cleanly into drywall, concrete, CLT (cross-laminated timber), paneling, and many other surfaces — each with its own dedicated mounting solution.

Different wall build-ups require different mounting approaches: a solid concrete wall behaves nothing like a CLT panel or a slatted acoustic ceiling. We’ve developed a family of mounting systems that match all common Finnish construction methods, so the switch sits perfectly flush regardless of substrate. This is what makes truly seamless flush-mount installation possible even in demanding materials.

  • 05Why should Otherwise be involved during the design phase?+

Because flush-mounted and furniture-mounted switches need to be planned into the surface build-up before finishes are applied. Retrofitting after the walls are done is significantly harder — sometimes impossible.

Each material requires its own mounting kit, which needs to be embedded during the wall or furniture construction. If the finishing has already been done — plaster, painting, panelling, veneer — cutting back to install a flush switch usually damages the surface. Involving Otherwise during the design phase means we can specify the exact mounting solution alongside the architect and electrician, so installation is effortless and the final result is truly invisible.
